Shabayit: A Home-Centered Shabbat Morning Service

Rabbi David Paskin

Rabbi

Torah Tech Guy

Shabayit is a 1-hour, music-filled Shabbat morning service designed to help families create sacred space and time in their own homes. Delivered over Zoom with a strong emphasis on high-quality audio and video, it offers a spiritually immersive experience where technology supports, rather than distracts from, Shabbat joy.

How to use this SDK

Shabayit is built to be a digital-first service that brings the essence of Shabbat into people’s homes via Zoom. It can be offered by synagogues, independent clergy, or lay leaders, and works well for small groups or family-based participation. The service is flexible, but depends on two key leadership skills:

•Fluency with the structure and melodies of Shabbat morning t’fillot
•Mastery of digital tools to ensure a seamless, high-quality audio/video experience for participants

Included materials can be adapted to different communities and liturgical styles. Use the Keynote as a visual liturgy guide, and modify the tech setup guide to meet your platform or streaming preferences.
