🔐 Understanding Licensing for Your SDK
When you share a resource on Open Source Judaism, you keep ownership of your work — but you also choose how others are allowed to use it. We encourage open sharing, remixing, and collaboration, so we recommend using a Creative Commons license.
CC BY – Attribution
What it means:
Anyone can use, remix, and share your work — even for commercial purposes — as long as they credit you as the original creator.
Why choose it:
You want your work to go far and wide, and you’re okay with people adapting it freely, as long as they give you proper credit.
Example credit line:
“Adapted from a resource by Rabbi Dana Cohen, shared under CC BY license via Open Source Judaism.”
💡 Not Sure?
Start with CC BY — it’s the most flexible option and helps your work reach more people. If you’d like help deciding, contact us or ask in our Discord community.
Licensing
CC BY-SA – Attribution + Share Alike
What it means:
Others can use, remix, and share your work — but they must credit you and share their version under the same license.
Why choose it:
You want to promote open sharing and ensure that future versions of your work also stay open and remixable.
Example credit line:
“Adapted from a resource by Leah Goldstein, shared under CC BY-SA license via Open Source Judaism.”
