About
Open Source Judaism was founded on a bold but simple belief: the future of Jewish life should be built together—by sharing, remixing, and reimagining the tools that shape our communities.
In today’s connected world, Jewish wisdom and educational resources shouldn’t live in silos. Too often, impactful programs, curricula, and spiritual frameworks stay locked within individual institutions. We're here to change that.
Open Source Judaism is a collaborative platform where rabbis, educators, and Jewish leaders can discover, contribute, and adapt high-quality, modular resources—called Synagogue Development Kits (SDKs)—to support prayer, learning, engagement, and innovation.
By embracing open-source values—accessibility, adaptability, and co-creation—we empower communities to build on each other’s work, tailor it to their own needs, and share it forward. Because the Judaism of tomorrow is already in motion—and we’re building it together, today.
Mission & Core Values
Our mission is to empower Jewish professionals and communities by providing a collaborative platform for sharing and developing open-source educational and spiritual resources.
Collaboration & Shared Wisdom (Shutafut)
We believe in the power of collective wisdom. By working together, we can build a richer, more diverse, and impactful set of tools for Jewish life.
Innovation & Adaptability (Hit’orerut)
We aim to spark creativity and innovation. Our resources are designed to be adaptable, encouraging users to remix and tailor them to their unique communal needs.
Transparency & Trust
(Panim el Panim)
We value direct, open, and transparent collaboration. Resources are shared openly, fostering trust and clear understanding.
Founder & Contributors
Open Source Judaism thrives on the contributions of many individuals and organizations. While Rabbi David Paskin initiated the project, its richness comes from the collective efforts of educators, rabbis, cantors, lay leaders, and developers who share their work and expertise. A full list of contributors and their SDKs can be found throughout the library. We are immensely grateful for every contribution, big or small. Want to join us? Visit our "Develop" page.
